Photo by Martha Crafton Quidi Vidi, neighborhood of St. John’s Newfoundland. Dating back to 1600’s, fisherman arrived from England and Ireland to fish for cod. They made rooms for themselves for the season, returned home in the fall. They eventually established permanent homes for themselves and family, referred to as “Outposts.”
